Types of Requests

UPMC Network Cancer Registry and Registry Information Services will respond to oncology data needs in several categories.

Aggregate Data Only

Contact the UPMC Network Cancer Registry / RIS representative directly with the details of the request for the following types of requests:

  • Marketing (Strategic Planning, Market Share, Patient Support Services, etc.)
  • Presentations
  • Preparation for Research

Quality and Process Improvement Projects

Submission to the UPMC Quality Improvement Review Committee is expected in order to begin the process per UPMC policy. 

Submit your request online. (requires UPMC Infonet access)

  • Select “Submit a Project for Review”
  • Select the option “Let’s Get Started” and a form will appear on a SharePoint site

Once approval is received, requestor must provide a copy of the application and approval message with the details of the request to the UPMC Network Cancer Registry / Registry Information Services representative. Registry Information Services representatives would be happy to discuss these processes in advance of the submission to the Quality Improvement Review Committee to help streamline the submission process.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

For research related requests in the following categories, submission of the research project to the University of Pittsburgh IRB for approval is required in order to begin the process per UPMC and IRB policies:

For IRB-Exempt Non-Human Subjects Research, submissions must include:

  • Reference to the Identity of the Honest Broker System or Process: UPMC Hillman Cancer Center (HCC), Pitt Biospecimen Core (PBC) and UPMC Enterprises (UPMCe)
  • Reference to our UPMC/IRB Honest Broker Approval Number: HB015
  • Reference to use of the UPMC Network Cancer Registry as a data source
  • Reference to the data elements needed from the UPMC Network Cancer Registry
