The UPMC Network Cancer Registry and its Registry Information Services (RIS) serves the clinical and research communities of UPMC and UPMC Hillman Cancer Centers through the following mission:
- Provides comprehensive, timely, standardized, high quality data collection and reporting processes as set forth by federal and state regulations enhanced by UPMC system-wide data annotation needs;
- Provides key resources and services for cancer program accreditation processes (including but not limited to American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, National Accreditation Program for Breast and Rectal Centers, American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Oncology Practice Initiative);
- Provides honest broker services in accordance with UPMC and University policies to ensure compliance for the release of information involving data stored in applications developed, managed and/or utilized by UPMC Hillman Cancer Center (HCC) in a collaborative fashion with the Pitt Biospecimen Core (PBC) and UPMC Enterprises (UPMCe);
- Promotes the education and certification of cancer registry professionals and mentoring of professionals in the community we serve.
